Beethovens last House in Vienna.
A digital Reconstruction
>> Press Echo
In Vienna Beethoven used to live very unsteadily, hardly six months he stayed in each lodging. Only in his last house he lived altogether over a year, until hies death on March 27 1827. Unfortunatedly this "Schwarzspanierhaus", where Beethoven had rented an eight-room flat, had been destroyed 1904. Hundred years later it has been digitally reconstructed for this multimedial presentation, edited by the Beethoven-Haus Bonn. By 7 panoramas and 5 interactive still lifes the visitor can get an idea of the direct surrounding of the composer's daily life in his living- and study-rooms.
This is accompanied by the last works which were composed there; a certain piece can be switched to the muted sensation of the almost deaf Beethoven ("Letzter musikalischer Gedanke", WoO 62, in C Major for Piano, performed by Ronald Brautigam, phonetics: Prof. Wolfgang Hess). The virtual reality is based on researching original material and authentic sources; all historic material like original furniture and personal belongings, contemporary descriptions and pictorial representations, are documented in a comprehensive catalogue section. The total time is ca. 90 minutes, no additional software needed (!).
